Brothers in Action
BIA is an eight (8) week program designed to facilitate a supportive transition for African Male Settlement Seekers. These men will acquire knowledge of mental health issues and appropriate resources including how to manage or cope with anxiety, depression, stress and other mental health challenges. Weekly meetings include presentations, workshops, social activities, discussions and networking.
Sisters Like Us (SLU)
SLU is a twelve week (12) interactive workshop tailored in response to the recent African settlement seekers. This woman’s program builds upon the guiding principles of Nguzo Saba and reinforces Kujichagulia (self-determination), Kuumba (creativity), and Umoja (unity). The program offers a variety of skill development activities to assist in the smooth transition to Canada.
It touches on a wide variety of topics such as financial literacy courses, Smart Serve certification to aesthetician workshops, movement, and womb wellness. Meanwhile, SLU gives the women leadership opportunities facilitating storytelling, poetry and cooking classes creating space for shared knowledge. The goal of SLU is to enhance the skills of our fellow sisters through community.
